About Lara Dallman-Weiss
Earning a berth to any Olympic Games for any sailing event requires serious sailing skills, blinders-on determination, and nonstop drive, but few recent Olympic trials have been tougher than the multi-year battle to determine which Women's 470 team would represent the USA at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Only in March 2021 Lara and her sailing partner Nikki Barnes qualified on the waters off of Vilamoura, Portugal. Four weeks later we’ve met a very happy Lara Dallman-Weiss at the same location. She shared her learning experiences on the way to the Olympics and describes her own the transformation from an amateur to a pro.
Lara’s key-messages in the podcast:
- “I have a love-hate-relationship with social media!”
- "Learning is more than matter of facts!”
- “Learning does take time!”
- “Making mistakes means being open with each other!”
- “It’s huge to be part of the TEAM USA!
- “Be open to do things, understanding often sets in later!”
