About Antonietta Mira
Antonietta Mira is Professor of Statistics, founder and director of the Data Science Lab at Università della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland. She is also a part-time professor at the University of Insubria, Italy, and an adjunct professor at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
Antonietta Mira holds a Ph.D. in Computational Statistics (1998) and a Master in Statistics (1996) from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, USA. She also holds a Ph.D. in Methodological Statistics from the University of Trento (1995) and a degree in Economics, summa cum laude, from the University of Pavia. She is a fellow of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis and visiting fellow of the University of Cambridge (2014 and 2016).
She has won awards for excellence in both research and teaching. Mira is a member of the board of the Swiss Statistical Society, the Office of Federal Statistics, and the board of the Harvard Data Science Review.
Among others she has spoken at United Nations World Data Science Forum (2021), the 8th Global Forum on Gender Statistics, EXPO (2015), Genoa Science Festival, Treviso Statistics Festival, Festival of the Swiss Academy of Sciences and the Italian Festival of Philosophy and Science.
In her spare free time she is involved in popularising mathematics and science. Through television, radio and newspapers she is engaged in strengthening the culture of data science and she is scientific director of “Numbed by Numbers” – an interactive exhibition on the fascinating world of numbers, a “maths gym” with about thirty stations, built around “3D”: Digits (the origin of numbers, from when man began to count with his fingers, to numbers as we know them today), Dice (random numbers, probability, casino space), and Data (numbers in a context, numbers and simulations, numbers that tell us).
Together with Raul Cremona she illustrates the fascination of magic games based on mathematical principles, communicating the beauty and expressive power of numbers. They also go to hospitals and cheer up hospitalised children.

About time4you communication & learning
Since roundabout 20 years we are working with concepts and tools to combine learning and technology in a good and meaningful way. Instructional design, aesthetics and technology are the subject matters that interest us most and we are always looking for innovative formats for sustainable learning and training. E.g., with our ai tool Jix we develop conversational learning applications and also useful chatbots for marketing and support. Primarily we invest our time and energy in digital learning solutions, learning eco-systems and platforms for our customers, based upon our IBT SERVER software. Important guidelines are a high process quality, a solid technological fundament, a large variety of formats and methods and an open (play-)space for individual learning experiences and the learning with and from others.
